For those who are beginners when handling a gun, I’m sure some of you are hesitant to load and fire because of what they hear or see from the movies. While professionals make it seem so easy, the sound and force of firing a gun may be a bit daunting for some.
It makes people wonder about how it feels to fire a gun for the first time. Not only does this have them more knowledgeable about the gun, but it shows them what they should expect when using it for the first time.
So if you’re about to start taking up shooting as a hobby and would like to know what it feels like when handling a gun, then read on as I show you what to expect when doing so!
Here’s the Feeling You Get When You Fire a Gun for the First Time
During basic training in the Army, you will be handed a gun to fire at various targets. The feeling of firing gun would depend on the model you are using. M-16 is a very easy firearm to use, with a gentle recoil for a high powered rifle. It feels light and easy to shoot, with the accuracy.
It’s also very easy to hold once you get a hang of the proper positioning and handling.
You should take note that the bang will be VERY loud (which is why many people use earmuffs) and it may spring back, especially if you can’t take the pressure.
You may feel the recoil of the butt against the shoulders and the bullet would crash an echo, breaking the sound barrier.
The recoil won’t hurt, and at most, it would sting you. But the excitement may drown that stinging down. You might also require little adjustment after. You can practice stability with your gun after a few more shots.
Also, you will also have to bear the smell. The scent of gun powder will fill the air, which is a bit smelly for many.
This is why I recommend you to practice with a light and easy gun like the M-16 or a handgun. I also urge you to practice shooting in a reputable center with professionals who can teach you, as well as give you the proper protection to keep you safe and comfortable during your first few shots.
With a light and easy gun, practicing will be much easier and you won’t have a lot of trouble getting the hang of it.

My sister told me that I should buy a pistol if I’m going to live in a neighborhood that is full of burglars so I’ll be able to protect my property. I think I should find someone who will train me first so I’ll know how to properly handle a gun. It’s good to know that the recoil of the gun will not hurt me as long as I handle it well, so I’ll be sure to get trained first before buying one.
I’ve bee wanting to learn how to shoot, that’s why I’ve been looking for a training school that may help me out. I never knew that shooting will be easy one the proper positioning and handling is already mastered. Once I’m done with my training, I’d start looking for a shop that sells different varieties of pre-owned guns.
I have have three guns and have not fired one. I handle them and clean them safely but, I don’t have time to go to the range. So your article was helpful. I have a Taurus 40 caliber, a 9mm Sig, and a cheap 380. I love guns and want more.
